God – We believe that God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Righteous Ruler of the universe. We believe in the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; yet one God
Jesus Christ – He is God’s only Son revealed in the flesh. He is 100% God and 100% man. Jesus died on the cross for man’s sins, arose from the grave, and now seated at the right hand of God the Father. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. Jesus is making intercession for us and is the mediator between God and man.
Holy Spirit – He convicts the lost person of sin; convinces man of his sin; He comes to live within a person at their point of salvation; He illuminates our understanding of His Word and reveals Himself to us, leading us in all truth.
The Bible – The Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God; it is inerrant, God-breathed, and the source for sound doctrine. Holy men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to write the Canon of 66 books with the dominating theme of redemption.
Man – God is the Creator of the universe, including man. God sustains His creation. God is Sovereign, maintains order of creation, and all things were made by Him. Man willfully sinned against God and became a sinner. All of humanity is born into sin and will face God’s judgment for that sin unless he accepts God’s gift of salvation.
Salvation – Man can receive pardon and forgiveness for his sins by admitting to God that he is a sinner. Man must believe in Christ’s death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave to have salvation. Salvation is by grace through faith and not by works. It is God’s will that all be saved, but only those who repent of their sins and accept Jesus as Savior will be saved. Failure to accept Jesus’ gift of salvation results in eternal separation from God and His judgment.
Perseverance – We believe that any saved person who has sinned (whether we call him a backslider or sinner), but has a desire to repent, may do so and be restored to God’s favor and fellowship. Man has a free will and can choose to deny his faith in Jesus Christ by living maintaining a life of practicing sin and thereby making shipwreck of his faith and be lost.
Gospel Ordinances – We practice 3: Lord’s Supper or open communion, baptism in water by immersion, and washing of the saints feet which teaches humility.
Resurrection – We believe in a bodily resurrection of all people. Those who are saved will be resurrected to eternal life with Jesus in heaven. Those who are lost will be resurrected to damnation ; complete eternal separation in hell from Jesus.
Church Government – We believe in the autonomy of the local church as a self-governing body by congregational rule. Local FWB churches can join a local association and the national association of Free Will Baptists.
Christ’s Second Coming – Jesus Christ will come again at the close of the Gospel dispensation/dispensation of grace to glorify His saints and judge the world of its sin.
Missions – Jesus commanded His church in the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20 to go out and win the lost. That command extends locally and to all the world.
